Drift Away – Dobie Gray is the original artist. UNCLE KRACKER remade it. Badly.
Life In a Northern Town – Dream Academy originally, Sugarland did the remake. Don’t remake a song that you probably don’t know anything about – (Nick Drake) – in your SuperTwang. Killed it.
No Woman, No Cry – Bob Marley and the Whalers originally. One of the reggae anthems that should be left alone. The Fugees remake is ok. Xavier Rudd’s very bad, boring, draggy, yawner of a remake? Should have left well enough alone.
Will You Still Love Me – Written by Carole King, recorded by The Shirelles, and then redone by Chicago BADLY. You should hear this one, guys. H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E.
Good remakes: I judge a good remake by whether or not I like it as much or more than the original. Here you go:
Lovers In A Dangerous Time – Bare Naked Ladies – Originally by Bruce Cockburn.
It’s My Life – No Doubt – Originally by Talk Talk
Sweet Jane – Cowboy Junkies – Originally by Lou Reed
Hurt – Johnny Cash – Originally by Nine Inch Nails
Working Class Hero – Green Day – Originally by John Lennon
Wild Horses – The Sundays – Originally by The Rolling Stones
So, here’s your playlist – the good remakes, and the original songs that were remade badly.
